These terms apply when you use Dupe for iPhone (the “App”), made by Workshop Operations Ltd, trading as General Software (“we”, “us”). The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and Apple’s standard end-user licence agreement also applies — these terms supplement it.
By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree to either, please don’t use the App.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by Apple’s App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App or any part of it.
The App is free to download and includes a starter set of scans, swipe sessions and compressions. “Dupe Unlimited” is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks unlimited use:
The most up-to-date price and currency for your region is always shown inside the App and in the App Store before you confirm a purchase.
If we offer a free trial of Dupe Unlimited at the time you subscribe, the trial period and conditions will be shown clearly before you confirm. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your Apple ID account will be charged for the first paid period automatically. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time by going to your Apple ID → Subscriptions in the iOS Settings app, or directly at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access to Unlimited features until then.
All purchases of Dupe Unlimited are processed by Apple, and refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under their Media Services Terms. To request a refund, please use Apple’s Report a Problem page. We are unable to issue refunds for App Store purchases directly.
The App needs access to your Photos library to find duplicate and near-duplicate photos and videos. All scanning, hashing, and grouping happens on your device. We don’t upload your photos or any data derived from them to our servers. Photo library access is granted in iOS Settings and can be revoked at any time. You agree not to use the App in any way that:
The App, its code, its design, the Dupe name and logo, and all related materials are owned by General Software / Workshop Operations Ltd, protected by copyright, trade-mark, and other intellectual-property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you. Your photos remain entirely yours — we never claim any rights over your content.
The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure from unauthorised access. You use the App at your own risk.
That said, we do try to ship a careful, native iOS app that respects your library. Anything goes wrong — tell us and we’ll do our best to fix it quickly.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither General Software / Workshop Operations Ltd nor our contractors will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to lost data, lost photos, loss of profits, goodwill, or business interruption. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the App is limited to the amount you paid for the App or for Dupe Unlimited in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
You and we acknowledge that these terms are between you and General Software / Workshop Operations Ltd only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.
In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App; to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how you use the App, we’ll do our best to flag it in-app before the new terms take effect. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that can’t be resolved by talking will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing here affects mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in the country where you live.
