Scanning ~/Pictures
A typical scan

You have more duplicates
than you think.

0.0 GB reclaimed on the average Mac
0 duplicate files surfaced
0 min to scan your home folder
What it finds

Every kind of copy.

Byte-for-byte identical files, surfaced as groups so you can keep one and tidy the rest. Native previews for everything.

Photos

Bursts, RAW + JPEG, duplicate imports.

The same vacation photo, three times, across Pictures, Downloads, Desktop. Dupe groups them with previews so you keep the right one.

Videos

Screen recordings, re-exports, drafts.

Big files, twice. A 312 MB screen recording dropped twice in the same folder costs the same as a thousand photos.

Installers

Old .dmgs, .zips, .pkg leftovers.

You downloaded the Chrome installer six times. Dupe knows. Trash all but the latest.

Documents

Email attachments saved twice.

The contract you saved into Documents, Downloads, and your Desktop, identical bytes each time.

Audio

Music libraries, voice memos, podcasts.

The same album in iTunes Media and on the Desktop. Voice memos backed up twice. Two copies of the keynote.

Developer files

node_modules, build outputs, old branches.

Twelve projects with the same React lock-file. Old dist/ folders. Identical Docker volumes. Often the biggest pile.

Safe by design

Dupe never touches the original.

How it works

Three steps, two minutes,
one tidier Mac.

  1. 01

    Drop a folder.

Or pick your whole home directory. Dupe handles any scope, any depth.

  2. 02

    Byte-perfect scan.

Dupe hashes every file's contents. Same hash, same bytes, same file — even if the names differ.

  3. 03

    Review & reclaim.

Walk the groups. Keep one. Trash the rest. Watch the free-space number climb.

Questions

Common questions.

Will Dupe delete files I actually need?

No. Dupe only ever suggests duplicates — you decide which one to keep. Anything trashed goes to your Mac's Trash and stays recoverable until you empty it.

How does the "byte-perfect" matching actually work?

Dupe computes a cryptographic hash of every file's contents. Two files with the same hash are byte-for-byte identical — same content, same size, same everything. No filename guessing, no fuzzy similarity, no false positives.

What about RAW and JPEG pairs from my camera?

Those aren't byte-identical (RAW and JPEG are different formats), so Dupe won't flag them as duplicates. It only finds true copies. If you've imported the same JPEG twice into different folders, though — that, it'll catch.

How big a folder can Dupe scan?

As big as you like — whole home directories on multi-terabyte drives. Dupe streams hashes so memory stays flat. A typical home folder scans in two minutes on Apple Silicon.

Is it subscription?

One-time $14.99. No subscription, no recurring anything. Future updates included.
